YIN YOGA

YIN YOGA

Yin Yoga is a slow meditative practice with asanas that are held for longer periods of time, typically between 3 - 5 minutes. This targets the deeper connective tissues like the ligaments, joints, fascia and even the bones rather than focussing on the muscles like more dynamic (yang) forms of Yoga.

Yin yoga is a great option for a wide range of people due to its gentle nature and focus on holding poses for extended periods. Here's a breakdown of who can benefit from Yin yoga:

Who is it for?

  • Yin yoga's emphasis on holding poses rather than demanding active movement makes it accessible for beginners. You don't need prior yoga experience to participate.

  • Yin yoga is a low-impact practice that can be adapted to various fitness levels. Whether you're young or old, Yin yoga can improve your flexibility and range of motion.

  • Gentle poses to target connective tissues and promote deep relaxation, stress reduction, and improved flexibility.

  • The gentle nature of Yin yoga makes it suitable for those recovering from injuries or with limited mobility. It allows for a safe exploration of movement without strain.

  • Yin yoga complements activities that require strength and flexibility. It can help athletes improve their range of motion, reduce muscle tension, and promote overall recovery.

  • The focus on deep breathing and relaxation makes Yin yoga a powerful tool for managing stress and anxiety. It's a perfect way to unwind and de-stress after a busy day.

A guided approach through experience and knowledge.

My approach to Yin Yoga classes is a unique combination of Yin Asanas, meditation, Sound therapy, Chanting, Yoga Nidra, Accupressure (based on the meridians that can give relief for pain) with supporting themes that serve to deepen the practice experience and gives the practitioner an opportunity for self- exploration and growth on and off the mat.
